abstract = "The Cerrado, also known as Brazilian savanna, is the second
largest biome in the country, occupies an area of approximately
2.039.000, about 23% of the national territory, their limit is
about 12 among the 27 states. For years, the Cerrado has been
undergoing a transformation of its natural landscape, due to
expansion of land use, specifically the intensification of
agriculture. The burn may be used to clean areas aiming to
livestock or farming, but this process interferes directly in the
environmental balance of the area. For analyze of dynamics spatial
and temporal of burned areas in the biome Cerrado three scenes
were analyzed three scenes were analyzed of satellite Landsat 8
(221/70, 223/69 e 225/70) with at least 30% of pastures, were
mapped altogether 21 images from July to October of 2013. For the
extraction of scars of burned first was performed a segmentation
of images and then we proceeded with the visual / manual
inspection. The selected scenes presented 11%, 16% and 29% in the
total of burned areas respectively for the scenes 221/70, 223/69 e
225/70. The occurrence of fire for three scenes had greater
intensity on the areas of remnant vegetation (on average 70%),
followed by cultivated pasture (23%). Note the predominance of
location of fires in areas with slope up to 20%. The patterns of
occurrence for the three scenes Landsat analyzed show that simple
management practices for fire fighting (ex. Firebreaks) are not
made, especially in the transition zones pasture-agriculture with
remnant vegetation.",
